The best fan-made Turricans ever?

Contra

Hi, while I am STILL waiting for my other Turrican Genesis game to come in the mail, I thought I'd might as well try some other fanmade Turricans. On my own, I have played T2002, and T-32K, and I loved both (even though T-32K was so short, it felt more action packed than even the great T2002!).

I love T2002, a great Turrican II remake (if that's what you could call it). The only thing I hated about it was it has a weird continue feature, when it could have had a save feature, because it is quite long for a platformer to beat in one sitting, and also I got stuck somewhere in Level 5 (the freaky cave level with the things in the walls that try to eat you). Seriously I was checking every nook and cranny, there was this one obstacle it looked like I had to jump over, but Turrican would just BARELY miss the tip of the obstacle! I also still need to get into using T2002E, but right now I am happy with the game itself (besides the fact that I get stuck on Level 5).

Another great fan-made Turrican was the GameGear Emulator Turrican! Man what a great game that would have been for my GameGear (yes, I own a GameGear, although the sound died off years ago, sadly)! I bet it coulda outsold recent GameBoy titles! Lol maybe not in the US, although it really should! Now I tend to find Turrican games that are more like Turrican I or II (not all the linear nonstop shooting like in most of the console Turricans). I like how the GG Turrican demo was pretty diverse and good length for a first level, the only thing I didn't like was it's 3 shot auto burst (kinda like the BR in Halo 2). I'd rather it have rapid fire (like in the Mega/Super Turricans), or single shooting (press the button every time you shoot, like in the Genesis Turrican . Nonetheless, a very good game and I more than look forward to a final version (you guys gotta tell me how to use flash cartridges by that time .

T32K, T2002, and GG Turrican gave me that insight. Even though GG Turrican used it's own sprites and graphics, it felt very original, I see some fan made Turrican screenshots that look all new and whatnot, I know you can't judge a book by it's cover but it really turns me off. I tend to like the more classic graphic/style Turricans like I said before. So besides of having to go through the hassle of trying em all out (which I would do if I had the time), I thought I'd ask your for input. Which of the fanmde Turricans would an old school Turrican guy like me enjoy? I hope I provided enough info to give you an idea of what I'm looking for, so if anyone could help that would be great!

Possibly in such arcade shooters there's no "save" option, 'cause someone
could use it not only to save a game for later continueing - but to save
a game to try and try again from the same point by reloading over and over
again everytime he fails. (And thus not losing lives anymore.) By some
other people this kinda behaviour is called "soft cheating". (Cause on one
hand it isn't really cheating - but on the other it isn't really not.)
But - don't get me wrong - I don't have any problems with it.

A save-and-quit option would be ok. And of course, if you load again, you start at the beginning of the level...

But also this would change the gameplay.
If you can't save, you are forced not only to come trough each level, but to make it good enough (Find some hidden lives, etc. ), to beat the following ones!

True, but maybe the game could start you with the exact same lives, bombs, lines, etc from when you quit. And when you resume, it is only fair to start on the beginning of that current level. I hate it when you quit a game with a bunch of lives, then when you save and resume, your lives reset to the defualt amount (usaully 3 or something) =(

But then you can collect a 1up nearby the beginning, save, reload, collelct the 1up, save....

...Then how about every time you load your game, it costs you one life? There, problem solved. Or if that doesn't work, you can only save at the beginning of a new level (it will ask you if you want to save your game), that way, anything you have done later in that level (collecting lives, powerups, etc.) will not be saved if you quit and load your game. There, problem solved yet again

The second solution is better.

whatever works , but yes the sencond solution IS better becaause if there are 2 lives near the beginning, then losing 1 won't be a big deal, I wish the game creators could have considered this... Hey can you help me with installing T2002E? Right now I still have T2002 V1.0 since it is all in German I can't install it correctly! Any help?

To install the patch shouldn't also for non-Germans a big deal...

As I allready said in "Turrican for the GBA???"

Just click OK, next, or one time the walker.

I didn't undertand what you meant, and there is nothing that says OK. It was ALL in Gernamn, and after the installation nothing happened. Did I download the right thing? Here can you give the the link to the download incase I might have downloaded something else?

You need to download and install this: http://pekaro.de/content/download/T2002E_Update.zip

To play the levels go to turricanforever.de , and download the T-Starter.

Download the level of your choice with the T-Starter (T-Starter offers a downloadfunction, to prevent you from putting the levels into wrong directories ), and everything goes easy.:)

Where is the T-Starter download? I can't find it. Well, I DID install the right update, and there IS an OK button (sorry for misleading you). So the only thing I need now is the T-Starter. Thx for the help, BTW.

Lol sorry I missed that, usaully if I don't see something right away, I just ask. Ok I am downloading the T-Starter w/mono and 7-zip (whatever that is). Is that the full deal download? It has the most KB so I assumed it was...

Ok so where can I find the normal T2002.EXE file? I can find the installer, but nothing on the actual game...

You find the T2002.exe in te directory, you installed the game in.
By default it is in a directory called "T2002" in the directory called "Programme" , at least on a German system.
I don't know, if "Programme" is renamed with the language by the T2002-setup...
