Just bought a copy of Edge (UK) yesterday and I saw that this month as part of their continuing "The making of ..." series they had a 3 page spread of Turrican.

One interesting thing that was mentioned was that of games that influenced Turrican. One of them was called "Psycho-Nics Oscar" which seems to look a LOT like Turrican. There's info about it at mame.dk

Wow - could you please mail a scan of it? I guess "the edge" is not available in germany :/

Ah. Problem there. I don't have a scanner. Although with any luck someone else on the forum will have bought a copy of Edge and could scan it.

But I'll ask around to see if I can use someone else's.

Interesting: the false fact of "Turricano´s" lives on....

The Name Turrican has its origin in the telephone-book of Düsseldorf, from an italian named "Turricano". Nothing with pizza

The article is full of false facts.
It is not too bad if you at least eat the first page.
Factor5 never did anything for the C64.
Turrican got a long light saber...nice interpretation of the surround shot.
Nostalgic problem - colission detection...very ironic.
The article is very Factor5ish. One could think Manfred Trenz worked for them.
"Vertical parallax scrolling is very hard on the Amiga" says Julian Eggebrecht. This vertical parallax scrolling was Peter Thierolf's invention...and he wasn't even mentioned in the credits.

Mmh. What do you think, did they interview Julian Eggebrecht, or did they just collect the facts elsewhere?

Would anybody be so nice to do a scan of this article since i am unable to get that issue.
Thank you!!

@t.r.schmidt:
I think they did both. I did not read Eggebrecht's sentences before, but I do not think he told them about the restaurant.

@jan:
I guess t.r.schmidt will offer a download next month at http://turrican.nemmelheim.de

But as Robert would say: "have fun now with your Making of Turrican" ;>
