Hardcore Gaming

Well, time for a new topic...lets talk about Hardcore-Gaming-Experiences

Two Examples from my gaming history:

1. Indy IV and MonkeyII on a standard A500 + 512K RAM...no harddisk, no 2nd drive, no ram to put the diskimages in...and I brought both to the ending sequence

2. Very new: Unreal II - The Awakening Windows98
I play it on a PIII/500, 256 MB Ram, Geforce 2 MX 400

And now, what was your Hardest-Gaming-Experience?

Wow.
Martin played Castle running on a 286. A text based game...which was much too fast using this speedy system.

And I played Beast 2...but I did not finish it.

Hey...a lot of posts in a very short time! *freu*

I remember Ambermoon...there I had already a second drive.
And I started Beast2 too...never lived longer than 5 Minutes without cheat.

But first impressions were KC87 (16KB, 24x40 resolution, graphics: ASCII and symbols like wingdings, Tape-Drive, 16 Colors - a Centipede-Clone called Millipede)

and the eastgerman PC1715...a green-monochrome PC with no graphics, a special operating system, no harddisk and Space Invaders in monochrome ASCII...

...and so I learned gameplay stays over graphics, and today I have no problem with Unreal2 at minimum details 640x480 on my PIII/500...

Can't mention them all

My very first: Elvaraszolt Kastely (a Jump'n'Run from Hungary) on the C Plus4 of my teacher. One day I played 6 hours and found no ending. The rooms were repeating. What a depressing experience.

ATARI 130XE:
Draconus. I created a map.
Others were International Karate, The Great American Cross Country Road Race, The Last Starfighter, Fort Apocalypse, Zybex...

Amiga:
The day I received Turrican 2 I played it three times, that is from start to end!
I also remember playing Alien Breed Special Edition with a friend until 4 in the morning.

Others on Amiga: T1, T3, Lionheart, Hybris, BC Kid, Wings, Fire and Ice, Apidya, Uridium 2 (unfinished, it's horribly hard later on), First Samurai...

Macintosh:
Playing WarCraft 1, 2 and its expansion for hours and hours. One evening my eye balls were starting to become red.
Others: Tomb Raider 1-3, Quake I, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max

ST 1 & 2 on SNES, Super Probotector but only easy level until end.

Sega Rally, Sega World Wide Soccer, Alien Trilogy, Tomb Raider 1, Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers... on Sega Saturn

Nowadays on PC so many very good games are available... I played QIII, Max Payne, Rune, Unreal, UT, FAKK2, Diablo2, Dungeon Siege, NOLF and I still have three levels of StarCraft BroodWar, some of WC III, Need for Speed 6.

A LAN party is another nice experience.

And I promise: there will be a day when I'll have finished Zak McKracken, Maniac Mansion and Mercenary.

I guess my best gaming experience is finishing Turrican 2 with my brother using a custom made joystick(Amiga). It had only 2 switches on,the other buttons were not functional. The first switch was autofire and the second was the laserbeam. They dont make games as they used to

you guys dont know the most hardest game ever, ok. Ever played arkanoid(not in the c64 version god dammit!!) in nes. Well that game is nerly impossible to get level 32, the last level the doh himself. By not cheating of course and using the real nintendo machine, not emulator and imported japan game without the taito logo in the below. That is the most impossible game ever made.
